Stephens County Mugshot Records
A booking photograph is an identification image made as part of an arrest and booking record. Release does not change what the image was: a record of the person at that booking. It also does not prove guilt, the final court result, or the reason custody ended. The Stephens County Sheriff directs the public to InteropWeb for inmate information, giving that vendor page its official local role. A released card can remain in the arrest-date results even after the person no longer appears in the current roster.
Texas Government Code Chapter 552 governs requests to executive agencies, subject to specific exceptions. A photo can be withheld or unavailable because of confidential material, an active matter, an expunction, an order of nondisclosure, or a system rule. The sound approach is to request the actual image from the office that created or holds it and accept a written legal basis if any part is withheld.
Stephens County Photo Channels
Several official and nonofficial channels can display an image, but each covers a different group. Match the source to the custody event before treating a face as the Stephens County booking photograph.
| Channel | Photo potential | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Sheriff-linked InteropWeb | Image elements appear on arrest cards | Search by name and arrest-date range, then confirm the selected released card renders an image. |
| Sheriff record request | Existing booking image may be produced | Request the photo with the booking and release or movement sheet. |
| TDCJ offender search or IVSS | A state identification image may appear | Use only for a TDCJ record and label it as a state image, not a county booking photo. |
| IVSS-Counties | Depends on the county feed | Do not promise an image; use the live interface and verify Stephens participation. |
| DPS registry | Color image for a limited population | Use only for a person who has a Chapter 62 registration duty. |
| News or copied archives | Event-specific or copied image | Treat as nonofficial and stale until matched to an official record. |
The official sheriff page is the starting point because it identifies the county’s chosen inmate-list route. No sheriff mobile app was advertised in the reviewed official navigation. An app-only photo channel should therefore not be claimed for Stephens County.
Search Stephens County Released Photos
The strongest web route for a past county booking is the Inmates by Arrest Date search. It accepts a name and from/to arrest dates. Results can mix cards marked RELEASED with cards marked CURRENTLY BOOKED. Search the arrest period, not an assumed release day, because the filter is based on arrest date.
- Enter the person’s name and a narrow arrest-date range.
- Match the arrest date, physical descriptors, agency, cause or warrant number, charge, and court.
- Read the status printed on that exact card.
- Inspect the image area and confirm a photograph actually rendered.
- Use the jail or a written request for the release time, release type, and destination.
A person booked long before release may require an older arrest range. The current-inmate view is not a historical photo lookup. The Stephens County 24-Hour Release List explains why the vendor’s last-24-hours screen is a booking window rather than a complete release list.
The official arrest-date interface shows the mixed-status search used for Stephens County released inmate mugshots:

The date controls help locate a booking card, while the card’s own status and image area must be checked separately.
Note: Days in jail cannot be reverse-engineered into a precise Stephens County release timestamp.
Request Stephens County Booking Photos
A narrow written request is the clean fallback when an image slot is blank, a card is no longer displayed, or an exact copy is needed. Send the request to the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office at 210 East Dyer, Breckenridge, Texas 76424. The sheriff’s main number is 254-559-2481 and fax is 254-559-2882. No dedicated local public-information form, fee schedule, or counter hours were found, so call first to verify the preferred delivery method.
- Identify the person by full name, date of birth if known, and approximate arrest or booking date.
- Ask for the booking sheet, booking photograph, and custody movement or release sheet.
- Request electronic copies and a written estimate before charges exceed $40.
- Ask the sheriff to identify the authority for any redaction or withholding.
- Keep the response with the matching cause or booking information so the photo is not detached from context.
Texas public-information requests seek records that already exist. The sheriff does not have to create a new explanation or identify a person from an uncertain image. A precise request costs less to process and reduces the risk of receiving a photo from a different arrest. If production cannot occur within ten working days, the governmental body provides a reasonable availability date; that is not a universal promise that every request is completed in ten days.
Stephens County Image Slot Limits
Released InteropWeb cards include an image element, but that structure alone does not prove every card contains a usable photograph. A browser may show a real booking image, a blank area, or another placeholder. This is the Stephens-specific policy point captured in Research Section 19: verify what renders for the chosen record rather than turning the existence of an image slot into a promise.
The Inmates Booked Last 24 Hours screen can contain a card already marked released. Yet it still sorts by recent booking, not recent release. Someone booked earlier and released today may be absent. The screenshot below documents the local booking-window label and card design:

The label and card must be read together. Neither supplies an exact release time or a complete list of all releases.
TDCJ Photos Are Different Records
Walker Sayle Unit is a TDCJ facility in Stephens County, not the county jail. A person held there belongs in the TDCJ offender search, where a state identification image may appear on some records. That image is not the booking photograph made at the Stephens County Law Enforcement Center. Geographic proximity does not merge the two systems.
Search TDCJ with a TDCJ or SID number when possible, then compare the name, status, facility, offense, maximum sentence date, and any actual release date. TDCJ’s no-fee email information route expressly does not provide photographs. If a state image is needed as an agency record, use the appropriate TDCJ public-information process rather than asking the county sheriff for it. A projected release date is prospective and does not make a photo a released-person record.
- Booking photo
- An image tied to one arrest and booking event.
- TDCJ image
- An identification image held within the state corrections record.
- Discharge
- Completion of the state sentence without continuing TDCJ supervision.
- Expunction
- A court process that can require eligible arrest records to be destroyed or returned.
Other Stephens County Photo Sources
The Texas DPS Sex Offender Registry includes color photos for people who have a registration duty under Chapter 62. It is not a general arrest-photo archive. A no-result there says nothing about whether a person was booked or released from the Stephens County jail. Use it only when the registry is the correct official record.
Local reporting or a government press release may publish an arrest photograph tied to a specific event. Such an image does not establish present custody or final disposition. Commercial archives may also preserve copied booking data after the official display changes. They can be stale, wrongly matched, or missing the later release and court result. Those categories explain where an image may surface, but official sheriff, court, and TDCJ records control. No commercial mugshot publisher or paid removal service is linked or endorsed here.
Note: Never substitute a TDCJ, registry, or news image for a Stephens booking photo without a clear source label.
Correcting Stephens County Mugshot Records
Texas Business and Commerce Code Chapter 109 is not a general mugshot ban. It applies to a defined class of businesses that publish criminal-record information and charge at least $150 to remove, correct, or modify it. Covered publishers must provide a clear dispute address and a free verification process. They must investigate within 45 business days and correct or remove wrong or incomplete material without a fee. Once notified of an expunction or nondisclosure order, the covered publisher has added duties under the statute.
An official source follows a different route. Send a correction request to the agency that holds the record, or use the court order that applies to the arrest. Texas Chapter 55A governs expunction, while Government Code Chapter 411, Subchapter E-1 governs orders of nondisclosure. Neither process should be claimed for a person without reviewing eligibility and the actual order.
The Stephens County released inmate search provides the broader path for confirming release, court disposition, supervision, or a transfer when a photo alone cannot answer those questions.
Verify Stephens County Photo Matches
Start with the custodian. For a Stephens County jail booking, match the InteropWeb card and request the sheriff’s copy. For Walker Sayle or another state facility, use TDCJ. A federal, immigration, registry, or news image should stay labeled to that system.
Then match identifiers. Name alone is weak, especially when common names or multiple arrests are involved. Compare date of birth when lawfully available, arrest date, agency, cause number, charge, court, TDCJ or SID number, and the status printed by the source. Finally, separate the photograph from the release claim. A card marked RELEASED confirms the vendor’s status entry, but only the release or movement record explains the date, authority, and destination.
