Stephens County IVSS Coverage
Texas now uses two related services. Texas IVSS-Counties covers participating county jail and court feeds. Participation is county-specific, so Stephens County must appear in the live portal before a user relies on it. TDCJ IVSS covers Texas prison, parole, and mandatory-supervision events. A person transferred from Stephens County Jail into TDCJ may require both searches.
Neither service is a universal custody locator. The county layer may record booking, release, transfer to TDCJ, court changes, escape, or death when the participating source sends that event. The state layer can show TDCJ custody and supervision status, expected or actual release fields, facility, and identification numbers. Federal Bureau of Prisons and immigration custody are outside both Texas systems.
Use the last known custodian as the starting point. A Stephens jail release belongs first with the sheriff’s record. A Walker Sayle Unit or other state-prison case belongs with TDCJ. If the wrong system returns nothing, that result says little about the person's full custody status.
Search One Stephens Inmate
A specific-person check depends on a careful identity match. Use the exact name and an agency identifier when known. Do not choose a result solely because the name looks right. Compare date of birth or age, county, booking details, state ID, TDCJ number, offense, and facility as the portal makes those fields available.
- Open IVSS-Counties for a Stephens County jail or court event. Confirm that Stephens County is offered in the live portal.
- Select the person or custody search and enter the exact name plus available identifiers.
- Open the matching record. Compare it with known arrest or booking facts before reading the status.
- For a state case, search TDCJ IVSS and use the TDCJ or state ID number when possible.
- Read status, facility, expected date, actual release date, and identifiers together. Save the record only after the match is sound.
- If no county match appears, use the sheriff-linked arrest-date roster and request the release or movement sheet.
The Stephens County released inmate lookup sets out that fallback chain. A no-result can reflect spelling, timing, participation, data lag, transfer, or a source that never held the person. It is not proof of release.
Stephens IVSS Release Fields
The exact fields depend on the source feed and the matched population. Capture the wording displayed on the current record. Do not translate a general custody event into a more precise legal conclusion than the source supports.

“Under Supervision” differs from “Out of Custody.” The former usually describes parole or mandatory supervision under TDCJ authority. “Unsupervised Custody” is also its own system label. For a county record, use the exact live event label rather than assuming the state vocabulary applies.

The portal image helps identify the official service, but the live record remains the source for a person's current status and available notification choices.
Register Stephens Release Alerts
An account adds confidential automatic notices to the public search. IVSS-Counties supports call, text, or email choices, along with timing preferences, blackout dates, history, pause, and account updates. Choose only events the current portal offers for the matched person or case.
- Create or sign into the correct county or TDCJ IVSS account.
- Find and verify the same person or case again.
- Attach the record and choose release, transfer, custody, court, or other offered events.
- Select call, text, or email and set the timing preferences shown.
- Complete the account or contact verification required on screen.
- Review the saved registration and keep contact details current.
Notification adds a useful signal, but it is not a safety guarantee. Delayed feeds, missed calls, changed contact details, and source corrections can affect delivery. For urgent or exact status, contact the agency that holds the person or created the event.
Texas Replaced Stephens County VINE
Texas replaced the county VINE brand with Texas IVSS-Counties on September 1, 2025. Existing registrations migrated. A returning user did not need to enroll again, but the first portal login prompts a password update. The Texas Attorney General’s current transition notice controls over older local instructions.
Older Texas VINE material used a telephone number and four-digit PIN. Calls could repeat until the PIN confirmed receipt or the call cycle ended. That workflow is historical. A current user should follow the account, password, delivery, and verification prompts now displayed, not invent a PIN because an old handout mentions one.

Confirm Stephens IVSS Releases
For an exact Stephens County jail release, call the jail at 254-559-2705 or request the custody movement and release sheet from the Sheriff’s Office at 210 E. Dyer, Breckenridge, TX 76424. Ask for release date and time, disposition, authority, holds, and receiving agency. A transfer is not community release.
For TDCJ, match the IVSS detail with the official offender record and request the release certificate when documentary proof is needed. An expected date is not an actual date. A county alert cannot establish a prison discharge, and a state result cannot fill in the reason for an unrelated county booking.
Federal cases require the BOP locator, and immigration custody requires ICE ODLS. Those agencies have their own coverage and limits. No Texas IVSS result can rule out either custodian.
Limits: Notifications can lag or fail. No result is not proof of release, and a release from one agency does not prove freedom from every custodian.

Stephens Release Alert Fallbacks
A failed IVSS search should lead to the agency record, not a conclusion. For a county booking, follow the official Stephens County Sheriff page to InteropWeb. The arrest-date search can display a matched card as “RELEASED.” That label confirms the vendor no longer treats that booking as active, but it omits the time, reason, and destination. The current roster answers only who is now booked.
Send a narrow Texas Public Information Act request when those missing facts matter. Name the person, date of birth if known, approximate arrest dates, and arresting agency if known. Ask for the booking sheet, custody movement or release sheet, exact release time, release type and authority, hold disposition, receiving custodian, and booking photograph. Request electronic copies and a cost estimate before work exceeds an agreed amount.
For a TDCJ case, use the seven-digit TDCJ number or SID whenever possible. The public offender search can show location, offense data, and projected fields. IVSS adds status-first detail. TDCJ also accepts an information request at pia@tdcj.texas.gov with the full name and TDCJ number. If the number is unknown, include exact birth details or approximate age and county of conviction.
Court records answer a different question. The Stephens County District Clerk handles felony and 90th District Court matters. The County Clerk handles county-court misdemeanors, but its advertised online database is for real property rather than criminal cases. A docket can confirm bond orders, disposition, sentence, dismissal, or revocation. It rarely replaces the jail record for the exact physical departure time.
If the facts point to another sovereign, switch systems. BOP’s locator covers federal custody and can display a release date or “Not in BOP Custody.” ICE ODLS covers current detention and a limited recent-release period. Neither result belongs in IVSS, and neither proves freedom from all custody or supervision. The last known custodian remains the best starting point.
These channels work best together. Alerts provide notice of future change. Public search records give a status snapshot. Agency and court records document what happened, who acted, and which custodian followed. Keeping those roles separate prevents a release alert from being overstated.
